Fans of Bruce Willis are begging for his family to give him privacy, after his daughter posted videos of him on social media.
In February 2023, after an initial announcement the Die Hard actor had been diagnosed with aphasia and much speculation, the Willis family revealed Bruce had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Since the family’s disclosure they have been extremely open regarding regular updates on 68-year-old Bruce’s condition.
Earlier this month, his youngest daughter Tallulah Willis appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show to discuss her father‘s condition and why their family decided to be so open about his health.
“On one hand, it’s who we are as a family,” the 29-year-old told Barrymore. “But also, it’s really important for us to spread awareness about FTD because there’s not enough information out there.”
“The bigger version of what I’m trying to do (is) if we can take something that we’re struggling with as a family and individually and help other people to turn it around, to make something beautiful about it, that’s really special for us,” Tallulah said.
“What’s going on with my dad — he has a really aggressive cognitive disease, a form of dementia that’s very rare.”
FTD is different from other types of dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. While Alzheimer’s typically involves memory loss, FTD impacts a person’s behavior.
Now, Bruce’s middle daughter Scout LaRue, 32, posted a heartbreaking video of her father on Instagram that’s caused concern amongst his fans.
In the first snap, Scout stretched out her hand to Bruce, who looked far different from his former self. She later posted another video of her hand lying in his right hand, with the actor appearing distracted and not looking at the camera.
People took to the comments section to ask Bruce’s family to five him privacy. “I feel like we shouldnt see him like this… He isnt a public Figuren [sic] anymore and deserves peace and privacy,” someone wrote.
Another person agreed, adding: “I feel like since his diagnosis. Suddenly we’re seeing all these vulnerable videos of him that should be private.”
A further comment read: “These private moments should remain private. I’m happy he is surrounded by a living family, but I wonder if the Bruce Willis of 20 years ago would want this aired publicly.”
Some people believed otherwise, saying that his illness is nothing to be ashamed of. “If you cannot take the bad with the good you don’t deserve that person at all. I think it’s good to share life’s struggles, we are all human, and all experience them. This sharing makes you relatable and more helpful to others. Nothing but love,” someone wrote.
