‘All My Children’ star Susan Lucci is still devoted to her husband of 52 years even after his death.
She is a blessed granny who loves ‘the hugs and kisses’ of her grandchildren.
While Susan Lucci had an excellent television family, her home life was just as serene. She welcomed her children, and they have now given her grandchildren, on whom she dotes. She often brags about her grandchildren.
However, she faced devastating heartbreak in March of 2022 when her husband of over five decades, Helmut Huber, passed away. Lucci has been mourning her husband since and has said she is still not over his death.
When asked if she would consider dating again, she confirmed she would not. The actress said she was not ready to get back into the dating world after her husband’s death and didn’t know if she ever would be.
Talking about the time frame, she said it had only been a few months since her husband had passed, but it didn’t matter how long it had been if she simply wasn’t ready to date anyone again. She then said:
“I just miss him, and he’s worth missing. He was really, really the love of my life.”
Lucci then said that her husband had been a significant presence in the lives of her and their children, Liza and Andreas. She said he beautifully took charge and then talked about how handsome he was and how she loved his accent.
Their 52-year Love
Lucci and Huber shared a beautiful love, but it was postponed for a while because of their nine-year age gap. Lucci said she saw him as an attractive older man, but she didn’t think they would end up together.
The couple’s love story began in 1968 when Huber attended Lucci’s engagement party to her ex-fiancé. Lucci’s parents invited Huber to the party because he worked at the hotel chain where the party was being held.
Lucci recalled that she was again charmed by Huber but thought nothing of it because she was engaged. She then confessed that Hubert had something to say to her mother. He said:
“This thing between Susie and this boy is never going to last.”
Lucci said although her mother agreed with Huber, she didn’t say anything to her daughter. However, he was right because later on that year, she and her fiancé broke up. She began dating Huber, and the pair were married by September 1969.
Now, five decades and one death later, Lucci has gushed about what a wonderful man her husband was. She joked that his death would have been easier to deal with if he had been a terrible person, but it was so difficult because he was fantastic.
The actress said her husband was the love of her life, and she is still trying to come to terms with his death. She is taking everything daily and trying to see all the good she still has in her life.
Lucci and Huber were madly in love until the day he passed away, as was evident from the pictures she often shared on social media. She once shared a photo of her and her husband as she stood behind him, smiling.
She mentioned that being there with her husband on that particular day made her feel like she was in her happy place. She also shared a photo of the pair for Valentine’s Day last year, just before her husband passed. They often went on dates to spend time together.
Lucci is a Blessed Grandma Who Loves the “Hugs and Kisses” of Her Grandchildren
Lucci and Huber welcomed two children during their union. Their first was their daughter, Liza, and their second was their son, Andreas. Liza and Andreas have given their parents eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Liza followed in her mother’s Hollywood footsteps and became an actress. She also starred in sitcoms, her most famous role being Gwen Hotchkiss in “Passions.” She played the role for nine years, from 1999 to 2008.
However, after she left the show, she retired from acting to focus on raising her young family. She has four children named Royce, Brendan, Hayden, and Mason. She also launched her own business called Sage Spoonfuls.
In 2015, Brendan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Lucci admitted that she was incredibly proud of how her daughter was handling the diagnosis and helping her son through it.

Lucci’s son, Andreas, is a golfer who started playing with his father, who shared his passion. He briefly paused his golfing career to work on Wall Street but soon returned to his passion.
While he had a successful golfing career, he is now a businessman. He acts as the CEO of Locality Media. The business is located in Garden City, New York, where his father enjoyed playing golf.
Lucci is proud of her big family and says: “I feel so blessed that we’re all intact and happy.” She mentioned that she had wanted to be a mother since she was a little girl. Now, talking about her grandchildren, she gushes:
“I love the hugs and kisses!” she gushes. “And Hayden running to me in her tutu shouting, ‘Grammy! Grammy!’ This warmth from the children is the best.”
Lucci has undoubtedly fulfilled her childhood wish of having children, and the desire has been fulfilled tenfold with the arrival of all her children and grandchildren. We wish Lucci and her family love and healing after Huber’s death.
